Lyriciss just dropped this video off in my inbox. Dope visuals and track from the DMV with a blaxploitation vibe to it…
Peace. Around the end of 2010, Laelo Hood linked up with DC-based Raw Footage Films (in associated with Tabi Bonney’s Cool Kids Forever Films) to put together visuals for his single, “Cool”, featuring myself and Pro’Verb, off of his debut album, Fuck The World. The result ended up being hands-down the most fun I’ve ever had while shooting a video, and today, y’all get to enjoy the final product. Directed by Chris Farmer & Tomi Gunz. The track and album are available on iTunes, here – http://itunes.apple.com/?us/?album/?f-k-the-world/?id412685182 – and on Laelo Hood’s Bandcamp page, here – http://laelohood.bandcamp.com/album/fuck-the-world-album
First off, apologies for being so late on the blog, y’all…with all of life’s ups must come the downs, and I’ve had a fair share of them both recently. Since a lot of the downs have been of a personal nature, dealing with my own struggles and those of my family and other people I love, I won’t really share them, but know that all is well and at most, you can send up some prayers. Those are always appreciated.
Now…with that said…I am blessed. My new video for “Give ‘Em A Show” is out (embedded below and posted here on HHF, thanks to the big homie Grant) and has gotten an amazing response, with over 2,000 views in a week and a lot of new eyes and ears open to the movement. I’ll be in NYC for a show this Saturday with the homies over at Deadstock Kicks (hit my website for more details – http://www.lyriciss.net), and I’ve been booked for 2 pretty big shows…SXSW (Austin, TX) in March, and another in Richmond, VA in April. The work is being done, y’all.
Now that we got all of that out of the way…this blog post actually ain’t gonna be about me…today…I shall speak on the DMV hip-hop scene. How many artists are you hip to? Sure, we all know Wale…you may even know Tabi Bonney…but what about Phil Ade? Diamond District? RAtheMC? Gods’Illa? K-Beta? Welp…this blog will be less of me talking and you enjoying videos. With every artist posted, I’ll include their Twitter names so you can stay in tune with their music and follow these amazing artists. Enjoy, y’all! [Read More..]
So this one time in band camp…oh, hey, how y’all doing? All well? Good to hear. If y’all aren’t hip to who I am, the name’s Lyriciss. Your friendly neighborhood rhyme-flipper, known for punching through school buses (word to Sean Price) and stomping out pandas, from DC to anywhere I go. I’m an artist on Inner Loop Records, plus a member of such affiliations as The Write Brothers (with Pro’Verb), Zzz Gang (me, Pro’Verb, AP The Prince, RAtheMC, Chris Barz, & KT), and Lunchroom Champions (me, Young Scolla, D. Julien, & Dee Goodz). As I sit down after spending the last day and night in a 7-hour studio session, then in the COLD-ASS (yes, “cold-ass” needed to be capitalized) city supporting the homie Pro’Verb at his Grind Time Now DMV battle (peace to Paradoxx, Maestro, Poison Pen, and Philly Swain for the love…I still ain’t battlin’ though! LOL), I sit here on this mini-PC wondering what to say to y’all that’d be super interesting and sound rapper-rapper-ish, but if you know me, you know I’m much more than just a guy who raps.
