I am proud to announce the “Back To The Future: Golden Era B-Boy Jam” in association with HipHopFiend.net, UrbanGames and Trackside. To most of you this won’t matter, but to anyone in the UK please try and make it to the first event I have organised, and help support the site. I just thought I’d include this, to show some of what I’m getting involved in under the HipHopFiend.net name offline…

With “Step Up 3D” loose in the cinemas (theaters), false ideas about Hip-Hop dance are everywhere. Luckily Flo has submitted a second installment of his Dance Blog to talk about another real pioneer of the true Hip-Hop dance styles…

Storm started dancing in the early 80′s in his native Germany. In the 90′s, he was one of the leading bboys keeping the culture alive when it needed it the most. He has written books, released inspirational videos, performed all over the world, judged legendary competitions.

He has mastered the three main styles of Hiphop dance: breaking, popping and locking! This in itself is an achievement!

This is a video of his latest popping project: ANIMATRONIK

It is for these reasons that I hate seeing films like “Step-Up” and “You Got Served”, and average dancers who gain commercial recognition on TV talent shows purely because audiences are uneducated and ignorant of Hip-Hop dance styles.

I have therefore decided that being a blog about “Hip-Hop” I will not leave the dance behind, and want to help to inform people about what Hip-Hop dance styles are, what is good, what is bad, the history etc. [Read More..]
