Drake – Take Care (Tracklist)
Oct 2011 31

After the track with Nicki Minaj I was worried that Take Care was going to be another Thank Me Later rather than a So Far Gone in that it seemed to be looking like a collection of singles and radio tracks as opposed to a cohesive record. Having said that the rest of the tracklist is looking pretty promising with only six different features (Wayne appears 3 times) on a 19 track album, and all with artists who make some kind of sense for him to work with. Hopefully when the LP drops on November 15th it will be well worth the wait!

1. Over My Dead Body
2. Shot For Me
3. Headlines
4. Crew Love f. The Weeknd
5. Take Care f. Rihanna
6. Marvin’s Room/Buried Alive (Interlude)
7. Under Ground Kings
8. We’ll Be Fine
9. Make Me Proud f. Nicki Minaj
10. Lord Knows f. Rick Ross
11. Cameras/Good Ones Go (Interlude)
12. Doing It Wrong
13. The Real Her f. Lil Wayne & Andre 3000
14. HYFR (Hell Ya Fuckin Right) f. Lil Wayne
15. Look What You’ve Done
16. Practice

Bonus Track
18. Hate Sleeping Alone
19. Untitled f. Lil Wayne

More Halloween themed output, this time a short film that I guess accompanies (but doesn’t actually feature) Cudder and Cage’s track ‘MANIAC’. The short-film directed by Shia LeBeouf (who also cameos) sees a docuemntary team following a couple of French serial killers carrying out a series of murders. Definitely not for the faint of heart!

Omari Shakir – Different
Oct 2011 31

In a time when we are used to artists making noise on the (hate to say the word) ‘blogosphere’ before being assigned to major label rapper’s imprints, but here it’s good to see that Drake is introducing new acts to his OVOXO crew who haven’t generated any of this buzz yet, and are unique and interesting, enter Omari Shakir and his debut single ‘Different’ (which also has fantastic artwork!)

I definitely wasn’t expecting visuals like this for the first single from Donald’s upcoming Camp LP; dark and horror-movie-esque, just in time for Halloween. The album drops November 15th…

L.E.P Bogus Boys – Now Or Neva (Mixtape)
Oct 2011 31

L.E.P Bogus Boys’ new mixtape is another highlight of the Halloween releases this year, in a time when the ‘gangsta rap’ genre has largely shifted toward music about balling and spending money (not that I’m hating), folks like L.E.P and Freddie Gibbs (who also released a tape today) hold it down for the gritty street level stuff! Recommended for fans of Mobb Deep!

Freddie Gibbs – Cold Day In Hell (Album)
Oct 2011 31

Despite a lot of references to this being a ‘mixtape’ this entirely original production is definitely an album, and amid the reams of high profile tapes dropping today was definitely the one I was most excited about. After listening through once I can say that it definitely delivered, and that joining CTE hasn’t changed or diluted Gibbs in any way! This is a highly recommended download. I have to shout out Augor too for the excellent cover art, I’d love to see more releases with artwork as interesting as this!

Fat Joe – The Darkside V.2 (Free Album)
Oct 2011 31

The first of Halloween’s long list of mixtape/album releases comes courtesy of Fat Joe, with his follow-up to his 2010 record, The Darkside V.1. Most of the production here is handled by in-house Terror Squad producer Mark Henry with only a couple of features from the likes of French Montana, Jadakiss and Raekwon. Volume 1 was a very solid LP and saw Joey back on form for the first time in a few years, so volume 2 is definitely worth a free download!

I recently became aware of Strange Famous Records’ B. Dolan due to his feature on the new Scroobius Pip album, and was lucky enough to catch him supporting Pip live last Friday. You’ll be hearing more about that gig when I write up the interview that I’ve been working on with Pip, but I have to say the gig (including Dolan’s support slot) was one of the best I’ve seen all year. I’ll definitely be looking out for new material by Dolan in the future, but in the meantime here is the visuals for ‘Earthmovers’ a cut from his 2010 LP, Fallen House, Sunken City, which you can stream in full here…

Also hit the jump to see Dolan take on a heckler from Friday’s show in a dance battle whilst performing a cover version of LL Cool J’s ‘You Can’t Dance’… (Sounds weird I know, but well worth watching!)
