I’m glad to announce that Actual Proof will be joining HipHopFiend on a weekly (or possibly bi-weekly) basis to put forth their opinions on various topics for what we are calling their ‘audio-blog.’
Due to a few technical issues it’s taken me until now to get this posted, it was recorded on the week that Watch The Throne was released, and discusses the ridiculous fan reaction to their mentor, 9th Wonder’s, statement on Twitter, that the album was “not for him”…

Sundown: To me its just kind of sad that no one is allowed to have an opinion outside of what is the status quo or whatever, and he didn’t say anything disrespectful, he didn’t say anything out of line, he didn’t say anything that was even cringeworthy; just, “it’s not for me.”
Enigma: I don’t have an opinion on it at all, at this point, because I haven’t heard it yet, I haven’t had a chance to download it, or buy it off Itunes or anything like that because I’ve been super super busy, so I’m just speaking in generalities here. Just like Sundown said, regardless of whom or what, if somebody can’t have an opinion without being like completely bashed… and it’s really funny, let me say this, it’s really funny that I’m going to mention this, but not all those people who bashed 9th Wonder, not every single one of them liked 9th Wonder music, every single person who was like “damn you 9th for saying that- you just hating” I guarantee that person does not like every 9th Wonder song, every 9th Wonder project, so how could that person throw stones saying that “how the hell could you not like that.” Nigga how could you not like my shit! It’s just because you don’t! It’s your opinion! You’re entitled to it. So when people get on blogs and everything, they’ll bash 9th Wonder for having an opinion, and there’ll be a blog post about his opinion, but he’ll post up a project and there’s all these fucking opinions about this project, they bash it and do whatever, and then what. If 9th Wonder responds back, or artists respond back to those people who have opinions saying “how come you don’t like my stuff,” its like “ahh you can’t take it, it’s just an opinion!” It’s so damn hypocritical to me. If you are entitled to make an opinion about 9th Wonder’s opinion, then goddamn he should have an opinion about what he want to have an opinion about, how the hell you criticising my opinions with opinions yourself, so it’s your opinion that 9th was hating, that’s your opinion. Should I get mad about that? It’s an opinion! That’s all I’m trying to say like…
S: The one thing that scares me about the current climate of…
E: Makes me want to smoke a cigarette!
S: …not just music but politics anything. There’s no such thing as discussion or any of that anymore, it’s just, this is what I like, and anything outside of it is hate. And like Common said, if I don’t like it, I don’t like it. It does not mean…
E: …we’re hating. Play some country bluegrass for them dudes, who say 9th is hating because that music wasn’t for him. Do you listen to all country? You don’t like all music! You don’t like every single genre of music, or every single project that comes out! You don’t! It’s not possible…
S: It’s very telling of the times now.
E: Yeah, so if it’s not for him, it’s not for him. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t like it, that’s your opinion. So you automatically feel like if you look up to 9th Wonder, or you look up to other people, and you’re like well he likes it, I should like it, he don’t like it, that means I shouldn’t like it. Then you get offended because he don’t like something you think is dope, he’s hating! That’s you! You want to like what I like, not the other way around. It might be for you, but not for me. That’s not me speaking on the Watch The Throne, because I have not downloaded it yet. It could be hot to me. To me! I haven’t heard it.
S: I’ve only heard the intro and the hook to “No Church,” I liked that, other than that I can’t speak on the album. And I saw when they posted the artwork for The Wonder Years, they were like look at this guy, he thinks he’s a king, and look at his ego sitting on his album cover with a crown. That album cover was done by a fan, and that was his way of saying thank you. But that turns into “oh you’re an egotistical prick.” You can’t please everyone, and the time that we live in now people say anything they want to on Twitter without repercussions, because they don’t have to face em, they can hide behind a keyboard. So you always have to keep that in mind, always. Because yesterday some girl said she’ll slap him in the mouth. Where I come from, you don’t say that kind of stuff to people unless you mean it. But times are different now, and you just need to continually remember that.
