What’s good yall?
Today is Wednesday, December 15th, 2010.
Right now I’m just gearing up for the holidays. Christmas time is always a beautiful time because I get to see a lot of members of my family I don’t usually see on a day-to-day basis. So during this time of year, I’m winding down from a long year of work, and getting motivated for a new year and a new outlook.
Its really cold down in Georgia right now. I can’t stay I recall it being this cold in past years. Usually we have fair weather in the 40s, but its been in the 20s lately, which really messes with us deep south folk, so I’ve been staying indoors most of the day, and most of the night too, trying to stay as warm as possible.
Since November we’ve been shooting a lot of music videos. I shot a video for “Lady In The Waterfall” off The Oracle album, and also did a video with Lil Loco & Young B, featuring myself and Dr. iLL, called “My Life On A Beat”. I shot and edited a video for Powder aka Casey Jones, which was a double feature for “Flowers (Prod by Snowgoons)/Stimulate” and recently I did a video for Jr Black, featuring Lil Loco & Young B, for a crunk track called “Goons Out”. So November/December has been a busy month from a video editing stance.
Musically, I haven’t done very much. I’ve been taking some time off to clear my head. I’ve done a lot of music this year and I want to be fresh for 2011, so at this time of the year, I like to relax and just celebrate all of my hard work in 2010.
2011 is going to be a huge year for not only myself, but many of my affiliated artists.
Lord Lhus is readying his debut solo album, “Fuck You Lord Lhus”, which will be released on iLL-Legit Records, so be on the lookout for that. I recently had the pleasure of sitting in on a session, watching Dr. iLL mix/master some of the tracks and it looks like it will be a solid release, so support the team! Snowgoons is readying the sequel to “A Fist In The Thought”, “The Iron Fist”, so Savage Brothers and Lord Lhus have been working diligently on finishing that project up. I laid a verse for a track on there and I’ve heard the majority of the album, there’s some definite bangers on there, so if you liked the first album, you’ll definitely have an ear for the sequel.
Powder aka Casey Jones is readying his debut solo release, “Weight of The World”, which I think is going to be the best album that any of us put out next year. The beats are insane. The concepts are off the wall, and the album has a really classy feel that you wouldn’t expect from any of us, so I think its going to be totally different from anything you’ve heard out of our camp and will be a breath of fresh air for true Hip Hop heads. So please support this project when it drops. Its going to be something special.
I’ve got some projects I’ve done work for and am meditating on whether or not to release next year, so we’ll see what happens. I don’t know if you’ll see a solo album from Mark Deez in 2011 or not. Who knows? I’m pretty spontaneous. I have some ideas, but I think its going to take a long time to materialize the next project, but we’ll see, in due time, something will surface. Maybe you’ll get an EP or a mixtape before a full album, who knows? I don’t. Atleast not at this moment.
I’m really just focused on getting Miltia of Emcees out, as its been done and in the vault for months now, we’re just trying to master everything and get it 100% retail ready, which as you know, takes some time, especially when there’s so much other stuff going on. So props to Dr. iLL for all the hard work he’s done lately. This is a man who works a job, goes to college, and is still trying to find time to get his music in. So I respect his efforts and you should too.
The Grindhouse Gang album is also another project being slowly and meticulously worked on as time progresses. We want to make sure its perfect in all aspects, starting with production, before we put this project out. So you might see it in 2011, you might not. I can’t make any guarantees at the moment, but we are working hard, and we’ll try to get to you as soon as we can.
