“Your Love: Smells Like Money” is the upcoming project I mentioned in
my previous blog. I always wanted to capture raw emotion on a record.
Raw emotion in the sense that you (the Listener) would get a glimpse
into the mental workings of a person or people, or even yourself, as
an event is occurring. What we did with this effort is vividly capture
a group of different raw emotions and took a musical polaroid, if you
will, of them and presented it in collective audio form. What the
featured producers and I wanted to create was an audio photo album of
moments that we’ve all been through. The aim for this project was to
be very vivid as well as creating the idea that listeners can get a
glimpse of everyone’s “inside voice”. All with the undertone of Love
which, by any means, is enjoyment in its purest essence of anything
that you do.
I believe that a project like “Your Love: Smells Like Money” will be
enjoyable to listeners because not only does it show growth in the
relationship between them and myself, it demonstrates the scope and
patience that my producers and I are willing to exhibit while
establishing quality over quantity in such a fickle, attention defecit
laden audio consumption climate.
As my team and I are preparing to take this musical show on the road
(Japan, Texas) we’re exploring different ways of being more personal
with our developmental process. I’m definitely soaking in new methods
of getting out thoughts and ideas better than ever and it’s showing in
the upcoming work.
By the time my next blog rolls in I’ll be touring, as well as blogging
from, another country. I’ll update that post with photos and
reflections from the journey.
