Producer Chapter 7, unleashes a new Yak Ballz track for the New Year, no word on the placement of this track, but hopefully Yak will be putting out an album sometime in the new year…
Statik and Termanology recorded a new EP live on UStream 24 Hours ago with 10,000 people watching. The EP is available today via ShowoffHipHop, and will be on Itunes from tomorrow.
Check out the lead single from the project, “The Money Is Reality,” in order to see how good the quality of the content is, despite being put together in a short space of time…
Yet another visual from Schoolboy Q’s upcoming project “Setbacks” which is released on the 11th of January. 2011 is set to be a big year for the Top Dawg Ent camp…
New Year’s Eve is a time for reflection, and 2010 has been a big year for me. I graduated university and began this rapidly growing and successful website, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in helping this progress, from my friends, family and girlfriend who put up with me, to my guest-bloggers and affiliated artists, the site sponsors; Exact Science, NorthSkull and Danksquad, everyone I’ve interviewed over the past 6 months, and most importantly the readers, who continue to visit the site and read the posts, articles and interviews that we put out.
Now to the main point of this post, my top ten albums of 2010. It’s been a great year, it seems like great hip-hop is everywhere, with the boundaries between real and commercial closing together, we’ve seen RZA and Pete Rock working with Kanye, Mos Def signing to G.O.O.D Music, Jay Electronica signing to Roc Nation, the West beginning to rise again with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Dom Kennedy, Blu and countless others… Whatever you want from hip-hop it is there, from the Boom Bap of 1982, Nottz and Black Milk to the more pop-influenced experimental work of KiD CuDi, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj and the Gangsta/Drug rap of artists like Freddie Gibbs, Pusha T and Rick Ross… For these reasons selecting a top ten has been insanely difficult, and some great projects weren’t included (honourable mentions go to J. Cole, Nottz, Slaine, Dom Kennedy and Drake.)
These albums were chosen because they are records that I feel have had an impact, and will continue to be played on my Ipod in future years, and are placed in no particular order…

I was unsure of this track when it originally hit the internet, however this goes to show that it’s all about waiting for the final mastered version, the extra layer of vocals, courtesy of Lavesh, along with the mastered audio really finish off the track, making it worthy of an album like “Detox” (or at least what we all hope “Detox” will be…)
Yet another Eminem leak (not that I’m complaining) this time with a little more context; the track was recorded during the “Recovery” recording sessions, and was produced by Salaam Remi.
Double-O drops a compilation of tracks that he has produced over the past year; from Nina Sky to KRS One to Kanye West Remixes…
Kendrick Lamar seems to be popping up on a track per day at this point. Still, can’t complain. Here he teams up with H.O.P.E to represent the New School of Compton rappers…
Another Eminem leak, this time a tribute to Proof. After a number of recent leaks of older unreleased Em tracks recently, it is unclear as to when this was recorded, and of its placement…
