Dizzee Rascal and Crazy Titch were two of the biggest names when grime first started and even clashed about seven years ago. It all began when Crazy didn’t hand the mic back after his 16 bars. Look at where they started and where they are now. Who do you think won?
Dizzee Rascal is the most successful artist to come out of the grime scene, as well as a pioneer. His debut album ‘Boy In Da Corner’ brought grime to a wider audience, sold over 250,000 copies and won the 2003 Mercury Music Prize. As well as being one of the being one of the best MC’s from the scene, he also produced the majority of the tracks on his first two albums. Other grime tracks of his worth looking up are ‘Strings Hoe’ and ‘Street Fighter’. He started off by going on pirate radio stations and was then introduced to Wiley’s ‘Roll Deep’, the most successful grime collective. Wiley and Dizzee earned a lot of attention and respect as a great double act and became two of the best MC’s at the time. They fell out and Dizzee left the crew after he was stabbed in Ayia Napa and believes Wiley didn’t back him. Since then he has gone on to have several number ones and co-owns a record label (Dirtee Stank).
Crazy Titch is known as one of the most lively and rowdiest grime MC’s to ever pick up the mic. He was a member of ‘Boyz In The Hood’ and featured on most of the biggest pirate radio stations, swell as Radio 1. His most well known track ‘I Can C U’ was one of the most requested videos on UK urban channel- Channel U. He also released a DVD in 2004 named ‘Crazy Times Volume 1′, which can be found on youtube. This DVD documented his time in the grime scene at raves and in Ayia Napa, as well as his conflict with Dizzee. Titch is currently serving life in jail for a murder in 2005. Many people believe he didn’t pull the trigger but was sent down as he didn’t snitch.
