Statik Selektah is a name that I associate with quality hip-hop, and in my opinion 2010 has been his best year so far. In the past few months he has put out the debut album and EP from his group with long-time collaborator Termanology, 1982, a number of tracks with Slaine, as well as mixtapes from Kali, Xzibit and Reks. It seems like Statik has upped his game this year, and is headed for the heavyweight hip-hop status he deserves. Visuals for the single from T.I.’s “No Mercy” album, which is finally out next tuesday…
There are a lot of good female underground emcees out right now, and next up is Rapsody, who is releasing her “Return of the B-Girl EP” on December 7th. OhNo provides a dope beat based around a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” sample, and Rapsody’s original flow makes this a standout track, I’ll definitely be checking out the EP next week…
