There is no such thing as a favourite rapper (or musician of any kind really). It all depends on your mood at the time, as well as what is current and what seems relevant. That said if pressed to come up with a favourite rapper I would usually cite Slug (of Minneapolis duo Atmosphere) as mine. Slug has put out honest, introspective, substantial and entertaining music for the past 13 years, which seems to always remain relatable and relevant no matter how many years pass since its release date. Therefore when I got the chance to interview him for HipHopFiend.net, it was one of those times when I began to feel that this music journalism thing is starting to pay off.

“This is my version working with the acapella…I’ve had this since 2006 and it was supposed to be on the Presidential Invasion mixtape–that never came out. Then Hov rapped these lyrics over his HP commercial drums, and the acapella went to a few different producers in search of a beat for it. I heard a Timbaland version and I think Just Blaze and a few others had it too. But by the time they made Beach Chair, I think Jay was over trying to find a beat for Most Kingz.
